Boxwood

Buxus – a genus of woody plants including around 70 species, with wide geographical coverage: western and southern Europe, southern and eastern Asia, Africa and Madagascar, wide parts of both Americas and the Caribbean. In our latitude, they are cultivated as ornamental plants, mostly used in hedges and topiaries – most of all box and it’s varieties are used for this purpose (esp. B. sempervirens and B. microphylla). The National Collection is located in Arboretum Wojsławice.
