Ivy

Hedera – a genus of vine plants from Araliaceae family including 17 species, subspecies, varieties, forms, and hundreds of cultivarf. It’s distributed in subtropical and temperate climatic zones, starting in Western Europe, as far as Japan and Taiwan in East Asia. In Europe, the common ivy (H. helix) is the dominant species, which in Poland is the only native evergreen vine. In the National Collection, we collected all wild species, one form (H. helix fo. poetarum with orange fruits), and over 660 cultivars. Based on frost resistance they are cultivated in the ground or in greenhouses.
