Daylily

Hemerocallis – a genus of perennial plants from the Hemerocallidaceae family, according to newer sources classed to Xanthorrhoeaceae family. Around 20 species from this genus grow in eastern Asia and southern Europe. In Chinese gardens, daylilies are grown as decorative, medical, and edible (flowers) plants for thousands of years. A wide variety and ease of crossing caused a real boom of decorative forms during the last few decades, especially in the USA and Europe. There are over 90,000 varieties registered in the American Daylily Society. The Daylily National Collection in Wojsławice includes few species and over 3,500 cultivated varieties, which makes it one of the biggest in Europe and has the ADS Display Garden status.
