Peony

Paeonia – a genus of herbaceous plants, subshrubs, and shrubs from the Paeoniaceae family. The National Collection in Botanical Garden includes around 200 cultivars, that mostly come from Chinese peony (P. lactiflora) and south European common peony (P. officinalis). Since it’s registration in 2011 the collection, especially in Arboretum Wojsławice, expanded adding more herbaceous varieties, subshrub varieties (P. ×suffruticosa), and peonies from the Itoh group – hybrids produced by crossing a tree peony with an herbaceous peony. That same collection includes also wild species like Delavay’s tree peony (P. delavayi), Paeonia mascula, or fern leaf peony (P. tenuifolia).
